Lori Anderson's Bead Soup Party starts today!! After viewing what I came up with, please visit Lori's blog and see the list of other participants. There were over 80 that participated, so may take a day or two to see them all. There were many talented designers participating and I can't wait to see their finishing pieces.
Lori was my bead partner and she sent me the following mix to create from. There were swarovski crystals..the cut on these were beautiful! a Diachronic glass pendant, some Czech beads, silver, bead caps and cat's eye. I sketched out many designs, but I kept coming back to the beautiful pendant. To add too much to the design would take away from the center piece. So I decided to draw my inspiration from the pendant to come up with something eye catching, yet simple enough that the pendant would remain the focal. I settled on some gorgeous Biwa pearls and garnet chips. The pearl cut mimicked the line design in the pendant and the garnet pulled from the color. by twisting the strands together it created the twisted, abstract glass design above, and the pendant remains the focal.
AND...I remembered the pretty clasp this time!
Lori stomped me with the floral bead caps, but I'm going come up with something this weekend that utilizes them ..I must I must I must!! Leave me a note and let me know what you think, then remember to visit Lori's blog for more great designs!!

Hi Dee...OMG! What a glorious necklace! You've done an amazing job with the beautiful supplies you were sent. Congrats!
I decided to start at the end of the list! What a pretty necklace. I'm a fan of pearls and that pendant Lori sent is gorgeous! Well done!
Brunswick Stew...I love Brunswick Stew! Your necklace is gorgeous! I just love what you did with all of the elements...and the two strands, how intricate. Lori made something wonderful with the beads you sent her too... This has been fun visiting "new" blogs like yours! :-)
I love it Dee. Great job with the colors.
What a great design!! The garnet is perfect with the pendant because it looks both black and red depending on the light. Great work!
How cool! I love the 2 twisted strands together with that pendant. Nice work!!
Beautiful! I love the way you used the gemstones. Nice touch.
I love black and white with one color element. I often go to pink or red like you have. Beautiful end result. I also love the beads you sent to Lori.
I love how you incorporated the biwa pearls into this piece! Gives me some great ideas of how to use my biwa pearls! Pretty! Pretty!
Dee....This is totally terrific! Love the use of the garnet chips picking up the deep color tone of the pendant with out making it too dark and then the twisting and mixing it up with the pearls, ans the silver beads to go with the clasp. That subtle echoing shape of the pearls to the pendant. Way cool!
The chunky stranding is perfect to keep up with the boldness of the focal. Super striking!
Stunning, Dee! I like how you let the pendant shine, with the necklace in a more muted supporting role (literally! LOL)
Also, you'll be posting that recipe for Brunswick Stew, right? Many years ago, when we visited Colonial Williamsburg, we had a fabulous lunch of the same at a local restaurant. Yum!
Love it--so dramatic!
BEAUTIFUL, Dee!!!
WOW, but you did good! I knew I sent something completely outside your comfort zone and was curious as to how you'd work with it. I LOOOOVE it! You really outdid yourself. Kudos!
Thanks for being part of the party! We'll do this again soon!
I love how you graphic strands of black and white play with the graphic focal bead. It's really a stunning necklace.
Love the color combo! So pretty!

It looks like you all had such a great time...I really have to check out everyone else and what they have made as well :)
That pendant has some great yumminess to it. I love keishi pearls, they are so fascinating! There is a movement and rhythm to this piece. As for the bead caps, they make great little earrings. Just pop in your favorite beads and voila! Thanks for sharing this heaping serving of great soup! Be sure to stop by and taste some of mine. Enjoy the day! Erin
This is a great piece. I think you are very right to draw the attention to the focal, but still adding some very nice necklace to it. Very cute, Dee.

The strands are great, such a nice combination with the pendant. Well done!
Great piece! The necklace does a great job of highlighting colors within the pendant without taking anything away from it...
The black and white strands make that gorgeous pendant even more stunning. Beautifully done!
Super design, sometimes you just have to listen to the beads.
