The Perfect Ending...

I took an unexpected break from everything this weekend, I just couldn't resist. It's been so hot lately, I've barely gone outside, heck I've barely done much of anything this Summer to be honest with you. My son came home from my parents this weekend after a week, and I just wanted to spend one perfect weekend with him before school starts Tuesday, so what did we do?

Friday night we went to the County Fair. We didn't ride one single thing, only walked around and enjoyed the sites and one another. We enjoyed:

Pizza and..
Corn Dogs and...
Funnel CakesWe learned how to make fresh ground Corn Meal then purchased two bags; one for us and another for Papa, we made rope from twine and even sported a Jethro Bodin belt ...okay, I did! We watched a Karaoke show, played with some chicks and and even watched a pig race! Lost some money on a few games, no stuff animals to show for it, of course, had some great laughs then headed home talking about what we were going to do tomorrow.

Saturday, we went to a birthday party in the neighborhood. I felt like I hadn't seen my neighbors all summer..well, I barely had, since I was in side for most of it or on the go here and there. Eric was the oldest there, so he hung out with me most of the time, but we managed to get in some laughs, played dodge ball, had ice cream cake, then headed home to get ready for our evening fun at Kings Dominion. We went to KD with friends, and the 4 kids didn't want parents around, so kids went their way, parents went another. This was my sons first unescorted trip around KD...his initiation into Middle schooldum..needless to say, he was feeling pretty cool! So, what did we do? The parents walked and ate, talked, fed some humongous gold fish, laughed, checked in on kids and enjoyed the beautiful weather and sites. Kids had a great time, everyone was on best behavior and everyone got along..if you have kids, you know this doesn't always happen.

Sunday, we attended church and Eric DID NOT attend childrens church...another Middle schooldum accomplishment! We enjoyed service together, then spent the afternoon with family at a cookout and He got to play chef with my real chef cousin. They prepared skewed shrimp and chicken, and hot dogs and burgers...I have to admit, the Shrimp were awesome! He even got to spend some unexpected time with one of his cousins he's been asking about for three years! We Came home, and ended the night to what I consider...The perfect weekend!

How did you spend your Labor Day weekend, I'd love to hear about it.

Unveiling on a high note,
Dee

Sounds like the perfect family weekend, Dee.

As you know,I am celebrating the Holiday in Big Bear Lake California. At 8000 ft, the weather is perfect, a nice respite from our triple digit heat in Palm Springs.
