Small Talk Six - Rest and Relaxation

Since Saturday's are typically slow around the blogosphere, MomDot , came up with a great idea called Small Talk Six to have a quick, fun, intereactive meme for the weekends.

This weeks meme is: 6 things you do, used to do, or would like to do to relax

I had to "relax" and take notes on this one making sure I actually focused on relaxing things that I'm able to fit into my busy schedule. I think I"ve mustered up a few that actually fall into the vegging category for me, so here goes...

1. I like to curl up with a good self help book on the couch with a cup of coffee or tea after a morning of cleaning house and finished laundry. That's my gift to me.

2. I lov
e going to a local landmark theater here in town to watch foreign or independent films that don't make it to the mainstream...ALONE! I've seen some great classics on these days.

3. I used to go to the park and sit by the lake and read fiction novels before kid, husband, and business....those days are long gone...park where is it?

4. I used to actually g
o to a salon to get my hair and feet done every two weeks. That was called "me: time, now I can barely remember to make an appointment, so I do it at home surrounded by all other distractions in my life.

5. I would love to get to the beach this year and visit my favorite hotel, ocean side and chill for a day or two..and lucky me there is a SHRM convention there in October that I will be attending for 4 days ....yeah me!

6. I would love to get to Wintergreen Resort this fall with my girlfriends to veg. We had a
lovely weekend there two years ago with the kids, nothing but fun, mountains, snow and pure vegging....okay fruiting since we went through right many bottles of wine those three days!

That's what I like to do, used to do and would like to do to rest and relax. On a side note, relaxing also includes time with my son, but this list is all about me!..So, what about you?

Dee

Small Talk Six - Beyond Lazy

Since Saturday's are typically slow around the blogosphere, MomDot , came up with a great idea called Small Talk Six to have a quick, fun, intereactive meme for the weekends.

This weeks meme is: 6 things people do that you think are beyond lazy...

well, that's an easy one for me, but I'll try not to pick on my son too much..you all already know I'm his "maid"!

1. Leave clothes in the bathroom on the floor after bathing! I know they had to step over the clothes to open the door, so why not just pick them up on your way out?

2. I hate to see people eat at restuarant's (fast food) then leave their mess on the tables. If this was dine in and the poor workers were being paid to buss tables, someone would have seated you and took your order...this really get me going..just lazy!

3. People who come through the grocery lane to check out, and wont take their items out of the carry basket. This is just a pet peave of mine when I used to cashier part time. Probably because our rings were being tracked and this just slowed me down.

4. People who KNOW they just drank the last drop of coffee from the coffee pot at work and won't make another pot...just lazy!

5. Customers in any store with baskets, who don't take their basket with them when the finish at the register. Well, you know you had to use something when you came through the lane with your 40 items, how can you just leave it behind???

6. People who leave clothes on the floor next to the hamper in your bedroom..nothing more to say about that...lazy!! (no name calling today).

Well, that allowed me to get a few things off my mind...what's your top thing that you consider beyond lazy, I'd love to hear.

Unveiling and venting,
Dee

Small Talk Six - Wishful Talents

Since Saturday's are typically slow around the blogosphere, MomDot , came up with a great idea called Small Talk Six to have a quick, fun, intereactive meme for the weekends. Why not, one day I don't have to come up with something on my own, so I'll give it a whirl. Each Saturday for the remainder of the year they have already been planned out the themes, so all I have to do is post the question with answer...how easy is that?

This weeks meme is: 6 talents I wished I posessed....

1. I wish I could sew. I've always wanted to learn to sew. There are so many wonderful things I'd be able to do, like make curtains, table coverings, dresses, etc. I once even purchased a seweing machine, just never took the time to take lessons..oh well.

2. I wish I could speak in public without getting all wobbly in the knees. Toasmasters helps, but it's a work in progress. I admire talented people who are able to get up at the drop of a hat and speak without warning so clearly and articulately.

3. I wish I had the talent of patience to do more Chain Maille in my jewelry making. The finished product is so beautiful. I only do a couple of projects a year, because I'm not patient enough to do more. It's not something you see everywhere you go, so there is a empty niche for it here as well.

4. I wish I could cut mens hair! Having a son, I can honestly say I HATE going to the Barbers shop sitting and waiting for his turn. If I had clippers it would be an easy weekend task whenever he needed it.

5. I wish I could play the piano....again, LOL. I learned when I was younger, but totally forgot everything. The thought of just sitting at the piano in the evening playing lovely tunes seems so relaxing to me.

6. I wish I could speak another language fluently, preferrably Spanish. My day job calls for the language quite frequently. While I'm able to call upon the 4 years I had in college and high school, some days it's just not enough.

Those are my 6 wishes for the weekend, what are yours?

Unveiling,
Dee
