Just Some Ideas....

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and whether you're shopping for your significant other or someone special in your life, here are a few lovely things I ran across on Etsy tonight. Valentines Day was originally for lovers, but it's also a great time to tell anyone in your life that they are special.

This lovely necklace is from JudysDesigns. I love the asymmetrical design of this piece and it's something you could wear year round.  The oxidized silver just adds that special pop to the pearls.

Another simple, yet lovely piece is the above silver necklace from Tiny Tokens Designs.  It's called Heart to Heart.  You can have it personalized. I especially love this piece with two names.  I'd like this one myself with mother and daughter.

Need a masculine gift for someone who loves art photography?  this photo is breath taking from Raceytay's  The pathway seems never ending. This is such a mystic piece that any male woud appreciate.

Tell me this set isn't cute! I love these faceted Swarovski crystals. Perfect for any day and any season. I found this set at Briguysgirls .

Well, just a few ideas, to get you thinking outside the red heart and Happy Valentines Day norm. If you have something different in mind and you are looking for something more personalized, send me an email and I'd be happy to do a custom order for you.

The Perfect Ending...

I took an unexpected break from everything this weekend, I just couldn't resist. It's been so hot lately, I've barely gone outside, heck I've barely done much of anything this Summer to be honest with you. My son came home from my parents this weekend after a week, and I just wanted to spend one perfect weekend with him before school starts Tuesday, so what did we do?

Friday night we went to the County Fair. We didn't ride one single thing, only walked around and enjoyed the sites and one another. We enjoyed:

Pizza and..
Corn Dogs and...
Funnel CakesWe learned how to make fresh ground Corn Meal then purchased two bags; one for us and another for Papa, we made rope from twine and even sported a Jethro Bodin belt ...okay, I did! We watched a Karaoke show, played with some chicks and and even watched a pig race! Lost some money on a few games, no stuff animals to show for it, of course, had some great laughs then headed home talking about what we were going to do tomorrow.

Saturday, we went to a birthday party in the neighborhood. I felt like I hadn't seen my neighbors all summer..well, I barely had, since I was in side for most of it or on the go here and there. Eric was the oldest there, so he hung out with me most of the time, but we managed to get in some laughs, played dodge ball, had ice cream cake, then headed home to get ready for our evening fun at Kings Dominion. We went to KD with friends, and the 4 kids didn't want parents around, so kids went their way, parents went another. This was my sons first unescorted trip around KD...his initiation into Middle schooldum..needless to say, he was feeling pretty cool! So, what did we do? The parents walked and ate, talked, fed some humongous gold fish, laughed, checked in on kids and enjoyed the beautiful weather and sites. Kids had a great time, everyone was on best behavior and everyone got along..if you have kids, you know this doesn't always happen.

Sunday, we attended church and Eric DID NOT attend childrens church...another Middle schooldum accomplishment! We enjoyed service together, then spent the afternoon with family at a cookout and He got to play chef with my real chef cousin. They prepared skewed shrimp and chicken, and hot dogs and burgers...I have to admit, the Shrimp were awesome! He even got to spend some unexpected time with one of his cousins he's been asking about for three years! We Came home, and ended the night to what I consider...The perfect weekend!

How did you spend your Labor Day weekend, I'd love to hear about it.

Proud to be an American!!

The 4th of July is Independence Day in the United States. It is the celebration of the birth of the United States and the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It is also a day to proudly display the American flag. We have so much to be thankful for living in the U.S. so, I hope that each of you are celebrating in your own way, be it picnics, cookouts or fireworks later tonight. As I child I remember going to see the fireworks here in town and while other events end with a firework show, there's nothing like a grand finale 4th of July showing. I leave you here today with a video that has no political or racial meaning behind it, but one that touched me emotionally this morning. This video to me represents a time in American where we have come together as ONE and not divided to make a difference around the world..and it makes me very proud to be an American. Leave me a comment and let me know why you're proud to be an American, I'd love to hear.

Happy 4th Everyone!!
